Pet peeve: "efficacy" is a word with a specific meaning that's become widely adopted during Covid, sometimes without understanding how the word is specifically invented to distinguish it from "effectiveness" in the medical literature (esp for studies validating medicines). The former is in the context of a controlled study. I.e. some aspects of the operating environment being made uniform for the sake of science. The latter is in clinical use, i.e. "in the real world".
