"Ukraine" isn't doing any of this, whatever feel-good stories are told for public consumption...Alll this, design, manufacturing, most storage, is done by NATO.

So powerful! But can't do much about those drones buzzing around Poland, Latvia and Romania. And they can't be bothered to help the Yanks in the Gulf. Even though Zekensky seemed to have linked some deals there - But he was just the salesman for that NATO tech.

And handfuls of Ukrainian drone operators whomping sizable NATO armored formations and troop contingents in several recent joint military drills never actually happened. I mean, those were just NATO beating their varsity team.

Nothing is actually real.

No third star Michelin cook could ever have dreamed that his kitchen and any kitchen, can be the ultimate war laboratory certainly now that high tech gadgets have entered.

Watch my words and I have been saying this for 5 years, not only a kitchen without a cook who’s totally dispensable but now drones without an operator, bullets without a shooter, navy ships and submarines without a crew, F35’s without a pilot, armies without soldiers ballistics without launchers, jammers, autonomous decoys and EMP’s and Starlink’s and Oracles miniatured in swarms or individual made like mosquitos, Lilliputian or Chihuahuas.

A little bit dry reading but the implications noted are pretty dire. I take as an example the 2 British AirCraft Carriers on which, at least $8 Billion now seems to have been spent. These large vessels have so far be a disaster with one carrier under total refit. Between a hypersonic missile swarm threat and multiple sea borne drones, it is clear that in a true war situation these carriers could be easily destroyed. Feels like we are still fighting WW2.

I remain flabbergasted at the change in warfare since the start of the Russian SMO. I don't believe 1 in a 100 understand the implications and consequences of the last 4 years and how history will record this time as a pivotal point in military and geopolitical history.

Satelite comunication offered ba west is main thing in those drones, without it there would be no drones.

As Mike probably knows our former country Yugoslavia (destroyed by west) had badass fortified submarine shelters, Soviets had them also, stupid russians abandoned them and now they are paying for it...

Thank you for this detailed and miltifaceted analysis, Mike.

We are entering an epoch of resource-warfare where the means of denial of resources from shipping are becoming dominant. It will be a time of acute shortages of basic necessities like fuel, food and fertilizer, it seems.

The movie. "Das Boot," demonstrates the underwater explosions and their affects (effects ?) too.

Great write up, as per usual!

Thanks for educating our situational awareness about what has been released by the genie of war .

In 2017 the Brits had a drone that apart from the current much lower coach line are the same thing. They tried testing it on the West Nile Gas Project off Alexandria, the Gyps were not amused.

So, new tech it is not.

There always seem to be people with no conscience who rise to the top. They capitalize on utilizing disciplines of science and technology to pursue hostile goals against the demonized 'other' instead of trying to better the lot of humanity, even of those suffering in their midst to which they turn a blind eye. We see it also in the recent revelations of covert bio-warfare research and testing operations surrounding East Asia. How can 'civilized' society discourage and thwart this behavior motivated by greed and hatred?

Interesting article, but too much AI involved, me thinks!

Me thinking that you could load these naval drones in the bulk of a ship and then release them on the east of west coast of the USA. There exists the possibility to bring the war back home, the USA no longer protected by 2 oceans. That would be great, reciprocating some of the destruction that the USA has entitled itself to bring destruction in many countries around the globe. Not for freedom and democracy, but to fill the pockets of the oligarchs

Feral Finster's avatar

The difference is that the American reaction would be brutal m,immediate and unmistakable.

Which is why nobody tries it

Marledonna's avatar

ah, have you heard about plausible deniability? You just hire a bunch of terrorists... oh wait, that happened already before, somewhere in 2001? And of course all the terrorist die, so they cannot be questioned. Maybe they will find a passport at the bottom of the ocean. Pristine.

Marledonna,

Seize a USA container ship and load it up with missiles, drones both surface and UW and you can sneak in close and have a major strike . Sink a ship in a shallow channel or drop a bridge and it could take months to clear . Once this starts all bets are off . The USA and Europe are already pirates and there are no longer any rules , just what you can get away with .
